About
Rebecca is a registered Psychologist with a special interest in working with adolescents and adults. She has experience working in both the private and public sector. She supports people with a wide range of mental health difficulties including anxiety, low mood, emotional dysregulation, personality disorders, OCD, eating disorders, and trauma.
Rebecca is trained in a range of evidence-based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Mindfulness. She uses an integrative approach which helps to tailor therapy to the needs of each individual client.
Rebecca believes psychology can help individuals to overcome life’s obstacles in order to live more rich and meaningful lives. She helps to create a safe space where clients can feel heard and understood without judgement. By reflecting together on difficulties in life, clients can begin to understand themselves and identify changes that need to be made. Rebecca believes that by combining the client’s knowledge as the expert in their own life with her training and expertise, clients can feel supported in making positive progress.
The therapeutic relationship is an important catalyst for change that allows clients to explore difficult material in treatment and feel supported in that process.
Rebecca completed her study at Auckland University of Technology (AUT) and has achieved the following qualifications:
Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) with First Class, Master of Health Science with First Class Honours and a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology.
